Aledo Varsity Tennis Boys and Girls Doubles teams win District 5-5A championship

The RacquetCats lead by head coach Joe McCoy traveled to Wichita Falls Tuesday, March 29-30 to compete in the District 5-5A playoff tournament. The tournament started on Tuesday with single elimination playing all the way to the semifinals. Finals were played Wednesday morning. The six district schools that attended were Aledo, Granbury, Azle, Brewer, Wichita Falls Rider and Wichita Falls Old High.
The defending boys doubles district champs from Aledo, Jax Joiner and Hogan Posey started off with a bye in the first round, they then beat Rider in the quarterfinals. The duo went on to play Old High in the semifinals defeating them as well. Joiner and Posey faced the other Old High team in a rematch from last year winning again by taking the third set to bring home back to back district gold. Joiner is a senior while Posey is a junior and will return next year.
Girls Doubles team Katie Siddons and Georgia Posey both seniors. took home the gold after a round 1 bye, then beating Rider in the quarterfinals. They faced Old High in the semifinals and battled it out with Rider in the finals to win the championship. Both girls competed at regionals last year in different events.
Girls doubles team Paige Federman and Kenley Germany played for third place but came up short finishing fourth. Boys singles Scott Mason competed for third place as well and placed forth over all.
Regionals for both the boys and girls doubles District Champs will be held April 11-12 at Texas Tech in Lubbock.
