SIDDONS AND POSEY BRING HOME THE BRONZE AT REGIONAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Siddons and Posey bring home the bronze at Regional tennis tournament

Aledo High School Girls Doubles team Katie Siddons and Georgia Posey brought home the 3rd place medal at Regionals this Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12 in Lubbock. TX. Coach Joe McCoy took two teams to Regionals this year, boys doubles duo Jax Joiner and Hogan Posey along with the girls doubles Siddons and Posey. Both teams won 1st place at the qualifying district tournament two weeks prior.
Joiner and Posey had to play the 4th seeded team from Canyon’s Randall High School and lost (3-6)(1-6) eliminating them in the 1st round.
Siddons and Posey who were seeded 3rd beat Colleyville Heritage (6-1)(6-1) in round 1. In round 2 they faced Arlington Heights winning (6-2)(6-3) and this advanced them into the semifinals where they faced the number 2 seeded team from Amarillo High. The RacquetCats lost (4-6)(5-7) in a very competitive match holding their own throughout. Tuesday morning the duo played for 3rd place against Randall high where they split sets (6-3)(2-6) and went into a 3rd set tie breaker for the nail biter victory winning it (7-6)8-6. This win set them up for a playback chance to advance to State if they could beat the number 1 seeded Abilene Wylie team that lost in the finals to number 2 Amarillo High in an upset match. Unfortunately the girls lost that match (2-6)(3-6) but retained their 3rd place finish.
Siddons, Posey and Joiner are all seniors while Hogan Posey will be returning as a senior next year for the RacquetCats. This coming fall Katie Siddons will be attending Texas Christian University, Georgia Posey attending University of Texas and Jax Joiner attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
